About

Princess Ella's Happy Ending is a 5.10a trad climbing route located in the Ouray vicinity of Western Colorado. It serves as the upper finish of the 4-pitch Princess Ella's Magical Adventure system. The route is situated on solid quartzite rock, which is noted for good quality in the area. Access begins with an approach to Waterfall Wall, proceeding upstream past the Tyrolean crossing. Climbers head straight or right up a gully, then move climber's left (south) along the base of the cliff for approximately 150 yards to a small buttress. The route starts at the toe of this buttress, roughly 30 feet above the creek. The climb features shiny bolts leading up 75 feet to a ledge with a big pine, followed by three more pitches of friendly bolts to a headwall finish. The route offers great views and is rated Grade II. Parking is available near the highway, and the route can be scoped from the road, just south of the parking spot above a scree slope. The route is pet friendly and allows for a single 70m rope descent via four raps. The total elevation of the area is 10,979 feet.
